Part 2: iPad is back to kill the competition

Apple announced in a press conference today that they will be releasing the iPad 2 on March 11th. After selling over 14 million iPads in less than a year, the 2nd generation iPad should have no problem moving units. Some of the best new features for the iPad 2 are two cameras with video recording and FaceTime, a lightning fast 1 GHz Apple A5 processor, and it’s 1/3 thinner than the original.

iPad 2: Best New Apps

The iPad 2 will also have some fresh new apps in the iTunes store. For music producers, GarageBand will be the first app to grab. Features include multi-track recording, touch instruments for non-musicians, and compatibility with the Mac version. GarageBand also has a wide array of stock sounds from electronic and acoustic drum kits to vintage synth sounds.

Another app worth checking for is iMovie. The video editing app first debuted on the iPhone 4, and will only be $4.99 for the iPad 2. It comes with 3 new themes, a new Precision Editor mode for easy editing, and you can upload your vid straight to YouTube, Facebook, and more.

How Much?

Prices won’t go up for the iPad 2 with the base model (16GB w/ WiFi) starting at $499. For the 64GB WiFi + 3G version, that will run you $829. The new iPad will be available in black or white, and released with Apple’s latest iOS 4.3. Supa Fresh.

All the Crackberry heads will need another fix when Blackberry releases its latest phone the Dakota. Specifications for the Dakota include HD video recording with 5 mp still shots, 3G mobile hotspot, accelerometer, and will run on Blackberry’s 6.1 OS.

The Dakota will only be 10 1/2 mm thick and have 4 GB of built in storage. Other features for the Blackberry Dakota are touchscreen and push button operation, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a whole lot of freshness. No price, carrier, or release date info yet, but the players on Team iPhone might want to get traded when the Dakota comes out.

Originally released in 1997 the Air Jordan 13 is will re-arrive this holiday season. The Nike Air Jordan 13 Retro in a french blue/flint grey colorway are scheduled to be released November 26th. There are a limited amount of Flint 13′s available now at some overseas sneaker sites, but expect to pay way above retail to snatch em up early.

New 100 Dollar Bill Design

The newly designed 100 dollar bill will go into circulation on February 11th, 2010. The note adds several unique security features to help prevent counterfeiters from duplicating the bill. Over 10 years of research and testing went into designing the new 100 dollar bill.

Security Features

Some of the enhanced security features added to the new 100 include a embedded security thread when the bill is held to light. A pattern of the letters USA and the number 100 are shown on both sides. The thread turns a pinkish color with UV light.

Another feature is a 3D security ribbon which is woven into the front of the note. The blue ribbon displays bells that turn to the number 100 when the note is tilted at a certain angle. On the back of the bill a gold 100 is added to make the denomination easier to identify.

Other security features include a hologram bell in the inkwell on bill next to the portrait of Benjamin Franklin. The bell changes from copper to dark green when the currency is tilted. Phrases of freedom and the quill from the Declaration of Independence can also be found on the front of the note.

The Louis Vuitton Tower Sneaker Boot (shown above in all black) is new to the LV Summer 2010 line. The hi top sneakers are calf leather and patent leather with monograms embossed on the sides, toe, and heel. The Tower Sneaker Boot also has a removable anatomic insock to absorb shock. A velcro strap is added at the bottom of the laces for style, and a rubber sole and tongue label gives the kicks a casual feel. The all black colorway isn’t available in the Louis Vuitton store yet but will most likely retail for $700.

The iPhone 4 is here to kill the competition. One of the freshest new features is Face Time, which allows you to make video calls with two built in cameras. Other features include a 5mp camera with LED flash, HD video recording, and a 960 by 640 high res Retina display.

Apple started taking pre-orders today (June 15th) to get the iPhone 4 delivered to you by mail on June 24th. You can get the new iPhone in black or white but only the black version can be pre-ordered as of today. Apple’s new gadget retails for $199 for the 16 gig version and $299 for the 32 gig.
